Forney Industries celebrates the trade of welding every day, but April is widely recognized as National Welding Month! Read on to learn more about this special month, and why welding is a crucial skill for so many people.
WHY DO WE CELEBRATE?
National Welding Month was established in 1996 by the American Welding Society to recognize the industry and those involved in the trade.
According to the American Welding Society, “Welding careers play an integral role in keeping people safe and advancing the quality of life across the globe, yet participation in the skilled trades continues to decrease. Please join the American Welding Society throughout April as we celebrate National Welding Month to bring awareness to our industry and its available career paths.”
So many careers are touched by the trade of welding and metalworking, and it has kept the nation growing for decades. Often times, the trade is passed down from generation to generation and known to be a valuable skill.
Welding is also great for the economy. In the article, “Welding: The Driving Force Of The Economy” by Carlos Plaza, “The industries that use welding to manufacture their products are the driving force of a modern economy. They are largely responsible for the infrastructure, capital goods, and commercial products that sustain a relatively high standard of living for billions of people across the world.”
