The Forney Easy Weld 100 ST requires 120V input and produces 90A output.  It comes with an electrode holder and ground clamp. Make sure the ground clamp is attached to a metal work bench or the actual metal you want to work with. The electrode holder is designed to hold the electrode in place and allows for easy electrode exchange.

The Forney Easy Weld 100 ST is capable of Stick and TIG weldingStick welding is an arc welding process that uses a consumable electrode to lay the bead.Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding uses a tungsten electrode and an inert gas like Argon. Using a filler metal is optional.

TIG Welding

To do TIG welding on this machine, you need to use an inert shielding gas like 100% argon. You will need a size 9 or 12 TIG torch with a 25mm Dinse connector. These do not come with the machine and can be purchased separately.

Stick Welding

For stick welding, it’s very important to choose the right electrode for the type of material you’re working on.  We recommend the Forney E6013 electrode. It’s easy to strike and performs well on most steel applications.  Try starting with a 3/32” diameter and set the machine to about 50-70 amps.

Strike the electrode to get started. You can do this with a tap start or strike start.

Get Comfortable

When welding, you want to get into a very comfortable body position. Lean over the workpiece, brace your support arm and control the movement of the electrode very carefully. Don’t hold the electrode in the air so it wobbles, you want to support your weight and be in control.

Control Your Speed

Remember to control the travel speed of the weld. Think of this like controlling your speed when you’re driving.  Next, pay attention to the stick out. The stick out is the distance between the metal and the end of your electrode.  This is similar to controlling the following distance from the car in front of you.  Lastly, focus on the path.  You want a nice and consistent weld, similar to staying in your lane when driving.

Practice Makes Perfect

Welding takes practice!  If you’re in control and monitor all your variables, it becomes second nature. Don’t forget to clean up the weld with a slag hammer and wire brush.

The 100 ST is a powerful little machine that’s perfect for your basic TIG and Stick welding needs. It’s ideal for the do-it-yourselfer or hobbyist along with maintenance and repair.

This machine comes with a 1 year warranty.
